Publisher Description

Jane Hayes is a seemingly normal young New Yorker, but she has a secret. Her obsession with Mr. Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, is ruining her love life: no real man can compare. But when a wealthy relative bequeaths her a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-crazed women, Jane's fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become realer than she ever could have imagined.

Decked out in empire-waist gowns, Jane struggles to master Regency etiquette and flirts with gardeners and gentlemen: or maybe even, she suspects, with the actors who are playing them. It's all a game, Jane knows. And yet the longer she stays, the more her insecurities seem to fall away, and the more she wonders: Is she about to kick the Austen obsession for good, or could all her dreams actually culminate in a Mr. Darcy of her own?

"part 3 of my 12 part pride and prejudice 200 year anniversary-palooza. I was totally turned off by the prologue and first chapter because the main character acted like her p&p obsession was something to be ashamed of so I was like uhhh excuse you are you implying I should be ashamed of my p&p obsession? so I felt a little defensive. but then I remembered, Shannon Hale wrote this and she is amazing, so I will just trust and move past this. and how glad am I that I did. this book was a DELIGHT. and some of the twists caught me by surprise which is always a thrill. cannot wait for the movie now."

" well, if I'd been a thinking reader, I could have predicted the entire plot...but it still managed ot surprise me when...(no spoilers)! So a good beach read, but nothing that will give your brain material to munch on for the next couple weeks. "

" Fun read for a long flight, light and breezy. But predictable and not well written too, I didn't think the two lead characters had the great chemistry they were supposed to have. I think it will make a fun movie to watch though. "

" Is there such a place? I have to wonder. Perhaps there should be. For all of us Jane Austen lovers this is for you. You don't live in the regency period although you wonder what it might have been like to do so. You wish for maybe just a day or two, you could travel back in time to this outlandish period of love, respect, relaxation and propriety. Well here is your chance. With Shannon Hale, you are given the opportunity to explore what it may be like to visit that time period, knowing what you know now. Fabulous and cute read. "
