" Well... I am glad I read this, but even happier that I am finished. Not sure why but this was a difficult read for me. It started out ok, but then I got kind of bored in parts. I just wanted the stupid trip to be over. I liked the characters, but sometimes they annoyed me. Well at least now I can say I read this one. "

" Classics are my favorites. A lot of good manners and other things have been lost in modern society so I love to immerse myself back in a time when these things still mattered to people. Phileas Fogg is a wonderful character with many contradictions although I don't think the author intended him to read that way. (We've come a long way when it comes to equality and not seeing half the globe as a bunch of savages) Triumphing against great odds is always fun to read about. If it contained just a little bit more on the romance of Aouda and Fogg I think I could have given it four stars. "

" The kids and I listened to this in the car. It took the kids a few chapters to get used to the language and get into the story, but after that we really enjoyed it! We laughed out loud many times. I loved the language used and the descriptions of the different places. We learned a lot as we listened. Verne wasn't totally accurate in his description of "Mormons" at the time, and he obviously though of us as very strange, but it was fun to hear his perspective. This book had enough adventure to keep the kids interested, and we all learned a lot from his detailed descriptions as well. "

" If Phileas Fogg would have known Captain Nemo, he would have had a much easier time. This book was a fun read and you can't help but appreciate what Verne was trying to do, which was educate while entertaining. This book was, of course, very entertaining and worthy of its cult status. "

" A solid story, as most "classics" are, Verne spins an entertaining tale. While it's a little mild compared to some of today's thrillers, you can imagine how it was pretty ground breaking stuff in the late nineteenth century. Short, easy to read, I recommend it to fans of classics. "

" Jim Dale was fabulous- as always. Book was good- but you had to follow along more than some, because it is detail-rich. Probably better audio than read- our family enjoyed. Ages 8-45. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Shelly | 5/11/2011

" So great. These books are wasted on the young, before we can really appreciate them. Making them required reading for disinterested students does great books a disservice. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Les | 5/9/2011

" Very entertaining book, though I am certain that the author never visited the Salt Lake valley. I found his explanations of Mormons darn funny! "

" Simple story, simply written, simple characters. A light read, by not Verne´s best by any means. I enjoyed ´Journey to the Center of the Earth´ more than this. Not as fun and as detailed as I expected. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Harmony | 4/27/2011

" i didnt love it. i took forever to read it. maybe thats why i didnt like it, it seemed to drag on until the end. i liked the ending, a twist. and love too, who doesnt like a fairy tale ending. im wondering if i should watch that movie they made about it. just to compare. "
