It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her 17-year-old sister, Penryn, will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels stronghold in San Francisco where Penryn will risk everything to rescue her sister, and Raffe will put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

" Can't say that I was thrilled with this dystopian young-adult fiction, especially being a fan of the genre... the post-apocalyptic world was well-imagined but the logical pitfalls keep the reader from diving fully into the characters. Wouldn't recommend for adults but might be better for teenage readers. "

" So I really liked this book. It does have a take on Supernatural but if the Winchesters had said yes on the first, maybe that's why I liked so much. Raffe wings, Penryn finding Paige, Raffe and Penryn, very dramatic, and somewhat predictable. The only thing I didn't really like was the mom. What's up with the mom? Does she really hear demons?? Well at least the second book is supposed to come out in a few months maybe all the unresolved scenarios get answered. Like what's going o happen to Paige? And what is the plan?? Are they really going to condemn Raffe for something that wasn't really his fault?? What of the other children?! "

" Wow, this book drew me in from the first page! I had the hardest time putting it down, which wasn't entirely a good thing considering I started it on the first day of a getaway weekend with my husband and read the entire book over the two days we were away. The book gets very dark at times, but also has a lot of banter between the two main characters which helps lighten the overall darkness of the story. I'll definitely be looking forward to reading the next one. "

About the Author

Susan Ee has eaten meze in the old city of Jerusalem, surfed the warm waters of Costa Rica, and played her short film at a major festival. She has a life-long love of science fiction, fantasy, and horror, especially if there’s a touch of romance. She used to be a lawyer but now loves being a writer, because it allows her souped-up imagination to bust out and go feral.
