Publisher Description

For five years after her father died, lithe, beautiful Dee Swann held on to Angel Creek valley and her independence. The homestead was hers, and she vowed no one else would ever own it...or her. Then Lucas Cochran came back to Colorado. In the drought-cursed high country, he needed Angel Creek and its cool water to turn his Double C ranch into the cattle dynasty he craved. His ruthless ambition guaranteed he would fight to take it away from the black-haired, green-eyed spitfire who claimed it. But the passion that blazed when Dee Swann and Lucas Cochran met shocked them both. Unbidden, unexpected, their kisses swept them toward a dangerous destiny where dreams might be scattered...men could be killed...or love would be born as wild and unfettered as this glorious frontier.

"This is my guilty, supermarket smut, beach blanket author. This one was full of passion and long sensuous sex scenes. I was hot and bothered for the couple of days it took me to read it. "

" Loved the spunky heroine in this book...loved the plotline, the sizzling couple...had just the right balance of romance, drama w/o going into an overly contrived storyline. "

" I don't even know why I attempted to read this. Honestly, I don't feel like I should even rate this book. Not that it was terrible, it just wasn't my cup of tea. I think people who enjoy historical western romances will undoubtedly appreciate this book, and Linda Howard is an excellent story teller. I just find the genre (with a few exceptions) boring. "

" It's Linda Howards' early 90's book so it's practically the old-romance recipe. The Alpha Male, younger female, kind of stuff. Pretty much what I expected from her older books. But of course, it's not favorite, since it's pretty shallow. I like her late 90's / early 2000's books better. I just read it because I need a quick read ... "

" Reliable steamy historical romance --- story strings encounters together (AllReaders has 90% of the story Romance related) with a bit of story/history/padding between. Virginal but strong, independent woman, powerful and economically motivated but "hooked" man. It does what it does well. "

" I liked the underlying story and even the romantic aspect of this book, but the outright sex was a little much in an audiobook. Perhaps if I had read it in an actual book it wouldn't have felt so weird. Definitely not something to listen to with others in the room unless that's what you all like. "

" Book Club pick- led to a fun discussion, but otherwise just an awful book. The sex scenes didn't bother me, it was the dominating male vs helpless female roles, the predictable plot and the poor writing that made this book awful. "
