Publisher Description

Polio was one of the most dreaded epidemic diseases in history and claimed countless lives. It was the ingenuity and determination of Jonas Salk which resulted in the discovery of the first safe and effective polio vaccine. But, who was the man behind the cure? Another researcher in the field of medicine was Percy Julian, as a pioneer in the chemical synthesis of medicinal drugs from plants. He was also the first African-American chemist inducted into the National Academy of Science, and he received over 130 patents for chemical discoveries during his life. The equally amazing life stories of William Shockley, Percy Spencer and Linus Pauling are also explored in this unique audio collection from the Amazing People Club. They are all inspirational stories.

Each story comes to life through BioViews®. BioViews® are short biographical stories, similar to interviews. These unique stories provide an easy way of learning about amazing people who made major contributions and changed our world.
