"I avoided Gardner for years because she hosted some true life crime TV show and her tone was overly dramatic and uppity, but in a bored moment, I caved, and never looked back. She writes NOTHING like she sounds or looks, and I love all her series."

" I'm so glad I read one of the later D.D. Warren books first instead of this one, because I probably wouldn't have been as eager to read any others. It's not that I didn't enjoy this one, I did. I love the style of writing, the easy flow and the way she unravels a tale (even if the reader guesses the ending early into the tale.)It's engaging, despite D.D. Warren being a completely unlikable character. Sadly, this book fell a little flat for me in comparison to her later work. I didn't like a lot of the characters. Bobby aside, I didn't like anyone at all, but that being said, it's still an easy read and is enjoyable. "

" This book felt like too much narrative for me. I tried to figure out why i wasn't enjoying this book and I think it was because every character was sort of depressing in the story. I love D.D. Warren but she was even "not herself." Just wasn't fun or fast-paced for me. "

" Really it would probably be a 2.5 but didn't think it was good enough to get rounded up to a 3. It was a hard book to get into and a long time to get invested in any of characters. "

" Not a bad little detective book. It flowed the way so many cop thrillers do but it was not too hokey or overly dramatic as they tend to be. The twist was completely expected but it was a good effort. The writing is smooth and efficient. "
