When a local girl falls prey to a sadistic serial killer, Nashville homicide lieutenant Taylor Jackson and her lover, FBI profiler Dr. John Baldwin, find themselves in a joint investigation pursuing a vicious murderer.

The Southern Strangler is slaughtering his way through the Southeast, leaving a gruesome memento at each crime scene - the prior victim's severed hand.

Ambitious TV reporter Whitney Connolly is certain the Southern Strangler is her ticket out of Nashville; she's got a scoop that could break the case. She has no idea how close to this story she really is - or what it will cost her.

As the killer spirals out of control, everyone involved must face a horrible truth - that the purest evil is born of private lies.

" This is the second of Ellison's books that I have read. I am getting the gist that her storytelling is more about the main character's life than it is about actual crime solving ala Janet Evanovich. The crimes that the books start out with have a really good premise and if she invested more time in fleshing out those parts of the story rather than focusing on the "life" of Taylor Jackson (I think that's her name, unfortunately even after two books I care so little about this character I have a hard time remembering her name even though I just finished this book about a half hour ago), these novels could be really excellent mystery/thrillers. That being said, this is an easy, fast read and I will more likely than not read another because they are a good palate cleanser for in between the more literary works I often read. "

" Third in the Taylor Jackson series. The main story is the murder of a young mother but there are a couple of subplots involving both Jackson and her profiler fiance John Baldwin. Good story and suspense. This book doesn't wrap up the loose ends to the sub plots so it doesn't stand alone as well as some of the others in the series but still good. On to #4... "

" So Close the Hand of Death by J.T. Ellison is the sixth Taylor Jackson mystery. Because I have not read all of these books, I was a bit confused as to the different character subplots. However, the suspense was awesome. Ms. Ellison brings back three serial killers to this installment. All are playing a cat and mouse game and want Taylor Jackson to "play." Across the country murders are happening in different states, but all of them are connected in some way. Working against the clock, Ms. Jackson needs to figure out who and what before there is another victim. Overall, this was great. I definitely need to go back and read the last two books. Received Courtesy of Net Galley. "

Not a bad mystery with interesting lead characters. "
