Dr. Ben Tolila examines the life of Abraham Lincoln, the U.S. president who freed American slaves in the 19th century and who lived from 1809 to 1865.

Lincoln's uniqueness lay in the fact that, in the context of his position, he insisted in adhering to the national goals that he had set out for the American nation - unity and the liberation of the slaves. Although many people opposed him, both among the people and in his own party, he exhibited determination and consistency, which in the end cost him his life. Download and start listening now!

" This book was a bit of a struggle to get through. I had to put it down several times and re-attack it in short bursts. It isn't a bad book, and it isn't poorly written, I just never really got into this one. I would only recommend this book to someone doing comprehensive research on Abraham Lincoln. "

" The author's approach was to describe the events in Lincoln's life from the perspective of what Lincoln was aware of as he made decisions. It is a detail person's delight! But it's not everyone's cup of tea. I was overwhelmed with the facts gleaned from official records, recorded conversations, diaries, reminiscences, etc. I loved the book. "

" Exhaustive, and a bit exhausting at times, but worth reading. You will come away with a real grasp of Lincoln. It's almost like seeing him in action. "

" Loved this book! It is a big book like 900 pages but well worth it. Its like a time capsule of that period in history. I learned so much about politics of that time, people of that tmie, and how complex a person lincoln was. It really opened my eyes to reinterpret alot of todays politics and events in historys context. This was probably in top 2 for most I learned in a book I read. "
