Publisher Description

In an act of heroism and self-sacrifice, Anderson Rawn's sister saved him from the destruction of their tiny mining colony, but her actions condemned the 13-year-old to 10 years of crushing loneliness on the hyperspace journey to a new home. Using electronics and desperation, Anderson creates a family to keep him company, but family isn't always a blessing. When Anderson finally arrives, C.J. Poulson greets him with curiosity and awe, because anyone who can survive a holocaust and reinvent holo-science is going to be a legend and right up C.J.'s alley. But the more C.J. investigates how Anderson endured the last 10 years, the deeper he is drawn into a truly dangerous fantasy, one that offers the key to Anderson's salvation - and his destruction.

In spite of his best intentions, C.J. can't resist the terribly seductive Anderson. Their attraction threatens to destroy them, because the heart of a man who can survive the destruction of his people and retain his sense of self holds a solid core of alpha male that will not be denied.

"Read October 12, 2011. Re-read Feb 8, 2012. I was fascinated by this story from the opening paragraph. Started in the morning and read it completely in one day. Pimped it to my niece who is a yoai/anime fiend because I thought she'd enjoy the storyline. It was complex, the romance took a back seat to an engrossing story. I really felt for Anderson. I really enjoy books who have a cast of secondary characters to get to know and love. Amy is really strong in this aspect of her craft. It's definitely going onto my comfort re-read shelf. I recommend it to anyone who is attracted to the blurb. Don't pass this one by."

" Great story and characters. Granted some weird physics and logic have to be ignored to really enjoy the book. Also found some terms used in the book rather odd. For instance "mammal bird" seems like an attempt to avoiding naming a species, which I find unnatural considering humanity's eagerness for classifying and recording everything. "

" Really 4.5 stars but I don't really like "space" type books so I just took off .5 stars. However, it was a typical Amy Lane read meaning fantastic. I love her, really, really love her. It made me weepy and happy and hot. Yum! "

" I had issues regarding the relationships. Even though it ends happy, I still felt melancholy. Maybe bittersweet? "

" I really enjoy books that not only have plenty of chemistry, but a strong plot and plenty of twists to challenge my mind. This book fits the bill. I'd call it a psychological thriller romance...set in future space of course! Highly recommend. "

" So, I was wondering if I should even rate this one, since I didn't finish it. I simply couldn't like the characters. I didn't buy the story from the very begining and it didn't change with time. So I gave up. "

" Amazing story. Such an interesting concept - I was completely engrossed. I laughed, cried, ached for Anderson. It makes you think. Read it; you will not be disappointed. In fact, if you don't read it, you're missing taking an incredible journey. "

" This was raw and painful to read, in a strangely good way. Even more then I've begun to expect from this author. Color me impressed. "
