Publisher Description

It is Halloween night, and the local museum in King's Lynn is preparing for an unusual event - the opening of a coffin containing the bones of a medieval bishop. But when Ruth Galloway arrives to supervise, she finds the museum's curator lying dead beside the coffin. It is only a matter of time before she and DI Nelson cross paths once more, as he is called in to investigate. Soon the museum's wealthy owner lies dead in his stables, too. These two deaths could be from natural causes - but Nelson isn't convinced.

"I love this author's writing. Ever since her first book in this amazing series I have eagerly awaited her next one.. Her characters are finely drawn and the setting is perfect. You can almost hear the wind howling from the sea about the cottage eaves and smell the salt in the air."

" This is less a mystery for Ruth to solve than a series of set pieces for her to stumble upon. The minor characters get a lot of the action. Still-and-all an intriguing mystery that goes off in some odd directions. "

" Another great addition to the Ruth Galloway series and this time Ruth isn't terrorized nor needs rescuing from some madman for a change. Phew! "

" This is the first Galloway book I have read. To me it was an okay read. Nothing to get too excited about but okay. A bit like the later Reichs books! It is a book about bones ... And drugs and Aborgines and horse racing. A real good mix. She is good at dropping red herrings and you don't know who is doing what and why until the end so I did like that about the book. "

" Several POV as the mystery progresses, complex interpersonal interplay, semi-mystical. Enjoyable, but I thought the previous one I read was better for being more focussed "

" This was my favourite of the series so far. The character inter-relationship between Ruth, Harry & Michelle together with he other characters are the main source of my pleasure in reading the books. "

" Ruth the main protagonist, sucks. Judy is the one who solved the case. Throughout the book all that Ruth did was to think of the numerous men she has feelings for. So disgusting was her character. But the background of the story was good. "

" I love Elly Griffiths books, especially the Ruth Galloway series. Always enjoy the occult tinge to the books, but this seemed short, not a lot of depth and Ruth was a little frantic in the book. I hope eventually she gets together with Nelson. :) "
