Love is a promise - for better or worse. When a group of eight cousins and friends leaves their Indiana Amish community for a weekend getaway, a horrific accident brings them home forever changed. Permanently disabled by the accident, Wayne Lambright struggles to take care of himself. He can't imagine being able to be the kind of husband his fiance, Loraine Miller, needs. Determined to sacrifice his happiness to give her a better life, he breaks their engagement. When Loraine's old boyfriend Jake Beechy returns from exploring the English world, Wayne does everything in his power to help Jake regain Loraine's love. Loraine refuses to believe Wayne doesn't love her anymore. For better or worse, Loraine wants to be Wayne's wife, but if he won't agree, should she promise her love to Jake? How will God work to bring Loraine the true desires of her heart?

"This was an interesting book for me as it takes place in northern Indiana. I visited this area a few years ago, so was very familiar with many of the places mentioned in the book. If you are interested in learning more about the Amish way of life, this is a good book to read."

" I just couldn't get into this book. The characters were flat and the dialogue was silly. I guess I prefer Beverly Lewis' books if I'm going to read Amish fiction. "

" I really did not expect to like this story. From the start I knew there was going to be alot of sadness to it. Despite all the tragedy, I got sucked into the story and the lives of the characters. Want to read the next book which apparently picks up right where this one left off. "

" I read lots of Amish books and I have to say this is the worst I have ever read. The story line and dialogue was so juvenile. It was basically two people bickering about one issue for the entire book - "I want to marry you", "No, I am only half a man!" etc etc. Save your money!!! "

" I've read other books by this author - and I think this is my last. The story line is lame and it really comes across as being written by a young person. Shallow characters and shallow story line. "

" This was a great quick read. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars was because it was a really simple book both in story line and just general readability. I feel like a kid could read and enjoy it. It didn't seem like a real "grown up" book. "
