Publisher Description

Since the initial publication of Outlander 15 years ago, Diana Gabaldon's New York Times best-selling saga has won the hearts of readers the world over, and sold more than 12 million books. Now, A Breath of Snow and Ashes continues the extraordinary story of 18th-century Scotsman Jamie Fraser and his 20th-century wife, Claire.

The year is 1772, and on the eve of the American Revolution, the long fuse of rebellion has already been lit. Men lie dead in the streets of Boston, and in the backwoods of North Carolina, isolated cabins burn in the forest.

With chaos brewing, the governor calls upon Jamie Fraser to unite the backcountry and safeguard the colony for King and Crown. But from his wife, Jamie knows that three years hence the shot heard round the world will be fired, and the result will be independence, with those loyal to the King either dead or in exile. And there is also the matter of a tiny clipping from The Wilmington Gazette, dated 1776, which reports Jamie's death, along with his kin. For once, he hopes, his time-traveling family may be wrong about the future.

"The 6th book in Gabaldon's Outlander series about time travelers Jamie and Claire Fraser. Set in pre-revolutionary America in the mountains of North Carolina. This book focuses a lot more on their daughter Brianna and her husband Roger. I enjoyed getting to know them and their family. I thoroughly enjoyed the history in this book. If you are a fan of the Outlander Series you will not be disappointed."

" 6th book in the Outlander series, only one more to go! I decided to listen to this one, abridged (13 discs) since the unabridged CD was 47 discs. Good choice I think. I don't need to know all the minute details. "

" Reading on Palm Centro. This will take awhile. Already this book is so much darker with the discovery of the Dutch family. Read this book before. I remember some but a lot will be new again. There were sections I could not wait to read again. The making of ashes, the last chapters were enjoyable. "

" I loved this book! So many plots wrap up along the way and still you see Jamie and Claire as the invincible and memorable couple we have loved along the way. I made the last 100 pages last as long as I could knowing there is only one more book to go and then a long break til the next DG book is ready. I highly recommend this book! "
